Hello,
my name is Alexander Bakst. I'm an American-born freelance journalist and translator with several years of experience teaching English as a foreign language to all ages. I'm currently based in Cologne, Germany.
I was born in New York City, but my family moved to Germany when I was young. I enjoyed a bilingual upbringing, so that I'm now a native speaker of both English and German. I've also spent a few years abroad in France and Spain, respectively gaining fluency in French and basic proficiency in Spanish.
I have a Bachelor's degree in politics and journalism from Brandeis University, a private liberal arts college near Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to my American university education I always attended German schools, completing my Abitur exam at the Romain-Rolland-Gymnasium in Dresden.
I've had the pleasure of working closely with Daniel Simmons in the past, and I'm proud to offer my translation expertise and teaching services to the Dresden School for British English on a freelance basis.
